The artist has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the MVT, which works to save the UK's small concert spaces.

Fender was awarded the cheque on mid-October as his latest record the album was named the top album of the past year.

Fender has opted to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists such as the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a modest fee to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist 38 grassroots venues across the UK.

The money helped venues that were confronting imminent closure due to issues caused by flooding, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, court cases and neighbor objections.

Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted performers and audiences.

"The concept that revenue from performances in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.

He is among several artists to give his Mercury Prize winnings to charitable organizations.

Back when the band received the trophy in the year 1996 for their record their work, lead singer Jarvis Cocker announced that the band would contribute their cash to the charity the charity.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her bounty between multiple organizations, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I gave a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required better apparatus," the artist told a publication.

In recent years, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the community center that developed their act, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally the 1994 recipients the group gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the condition.

"Winning was quite enough," said vocalist the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the trust revealed it had rescued a couple of small stages in that region, by placing them under community ownership.

One venue in Southampton and the other in that location were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by a national body and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the venues.
